About me
Tim Newton
I'm a versatile film practitioner, experienced in creating work in multiple genres; from TV series, corporates and documentaries to commercials and charity films.
Notable independent film work includes Trimming Pablo, a dramatic account of Picasso’s visit to Sheffield for the 1950 Peace Congress; Art Party, a feature film made in collaboration with artist Bob and Roberta Smith and Who is Community (2012) for Art on the Underground. My arts campaign film, Save Old Flo, is now archived at Tate Britain.
Previous broadcast work includes directing a London unit for US drama, The Looming Tower for 40 North/Hulu and the international technology/business series, I.O.T., for CNBC. I’ve also produced and directed factual entertainment shows for the BBC and ITV, including Beat the Burglar, Beat the Bailiff and several series of Cash in the Attic.
Trained in drama and comedy, I regularly guest as a director and tutor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and other drama schools, teaching screen acting and filmmaking. I've also mentored young filmmakers as course leader for the Creative Wick Film School in Hackney.
